APL ‘Cladsafe’ Systems specified for York University

York University is a centre for teaching and research on sustainable solutions to the world’s environmental issues. Architectural Profile’s (APL) products and systems were specified for the exterior of the Environment Building by architects Bond Bryan.

The systems specified included APL ‘SlimWall’ rainscreen panels on the main wall with specially-perforated solid panels installed over an area of windows to act as a brise soleil to diffuse sunlight.

Secondly, APL ‘Zipseam’, which is conventionally a roof sheet, was also perforated and used vertically on the walls of external fire escape towers to allow in daylight and provide adequate ventilation. Thirdly, APL live louvre profiles were installed on high-level plant rooms, providing weather-protection with controlled ventilation.

All of the systems provided carried the APL ‘Cladsafe’ quality mark, meaning that all are fabricated to be non-combustible/fire retardant assemblies.

Architectural Profiles is based in Reading, Berkshire, with comprehensive manufacturing facilities in Flintshire. As such, all products are designed and fabricated in the UK and can carry a 25-year ‘CladShield’ system warranty, which also includes site inspections during construction to guarantee the highest quality installation.
