The Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association (LWRA) has presented six SPV UK operatives with C Skills Awards Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Waterproof Membrane Roofing Systems – Liquid Applied Membrane Roofing Systems (QCF).

The presentation took place at the company’s offices in Aldridge, Walsall, on January 4, 2016, where Chris Bussens, training facilitator at LRWA, presented the awards to the operatives.

The company’s six operatives, Dean Smith, Robert Dawes, Zac Nicholls, Jon Lenihan, Jack Lenihan and Warren Thomason, attended the pilot Special Up-skilling Programme (SUP) course, designed by Chris Bussens, and said that they found it to be extremely informative, practical and constructive.

Speaking on the day’s events, Chris commented: “The Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association would like to congratulate all six operatives on achieving their NVQ Level 2 qualification through its new Special Up-skilling Programme.

“This programme was written by the Association in conjunction with the CITB to infill the training gap in the industry sector between an apprenticeship and OSAT. These operatives are the first intake for the SUP on which they would have gained additional advice, knowledge and information towards the successful completion of their National Qualification.”

The liquid roofing division of SPV has grown significantly over the last few years, with clients such as Asda specifying liquids on all its works and subsequently the company currently has three more operatives undertaking the next course of the SUP which they hope to complete by mid 2016.

More information on the training courses that the LWRA has on offer can be found on its website www.lrwa.org.uk.
