Elliotts builders merchant helps with hurricane relief efforts

Elliotts, an independent supplier of building products for the trade and public, has joined in with the effort to help re-build Barbuda following Hurricane Irma.

Donating roofing felt, breather membrane, nails and hammers, the supplies arrived in Antigua two weekends ago. However, the re-build effort has been hampered by the arrival of Hurricane Maria with work due to recommence once she passes.

The charitable donation from Elliotts, arranged by company consultant Tony Jenvey, was flown to the Caribbean alongside other building materials on specially chartered Virgin planes. These donations have been some of the first to arrive to aid with the rebuilding effort.

Roofing supplies for the Barbuda and British Virgin Islands have been made an immediate priority by the Antiguan Government, stating that roof rebuilding is key to getting homeowners back into their homes.

Tom Elliott, managing director of Elliotts, said: “Our roofing supplies are going directly to those worst affected to help them rebuild their homes. Hurricane Irma has caused devastation in the British Virgin Islands so I’m pleased that we could respond quickly to the relief effort.”
