Merger expands company’s portfolio

Guttercrest has further strengthened its range by acquiring ABP’s aluminium coping, guttering and downpipe products, universally known as Alifabs.

Guttercrest accepted the opportunity to expand its portfolio after ABP directors decided to concentrate on other interests.

Alifabs, founded in 1957, started business supplying aluminium building products and lightweight structures to the construction industry. After specialising in copings, its architectural coping system gained the approval of the British Board of Agrément (BBA). As a result, Guttercrest says it now has the only BBA tested and certified coping system.

Guttercrest manufactures over 40 different standard types of aluminium gutters, downpipes, fascias, soffits and wall copings. The addition of ABP’s product lines will also include the Ali-fabs G146 and G55 guttering with complimentary downpipe system and the Ali-fabs Clickfix coping.

These products will increase Guttercrest’s plans for growth after a £5m investment in a new 40,000ft2 facility in Shropshire in 2016. The new site compliments the existing 26,000ft2 site, both of which have been fitted with technology to streamline processes, reduce lead-time, and increase stock availability.

Gary Power, director at Guttercrest, commented: “ABP and Guttercrest held talks about Guttercrest taking over the ABP/Alifabs product lines. Alifabs copings and rainwater systems are a highly respected brand in our industry, so we’re very pleased that they chose us to carry their products into the future, and further enhance Guttercrest’s existing range.”
