GlobusHand protection specialist Globus (Shetland) has acquired Alpha Solway to further extend its role in the personal protective equipment (PPE) industry.

The deal was made for an undisclosed sum and means the multi-million pound Globus company has taken over Alpha Solway’s range of specialist chemical protective clothing and disposable respiratory products. The company also offers a range of off-the-shelf garments and works with its customers to develop bespoke items designed to specification.

Haraldur Agustsson, chief executive of Globus Group, said: “I’m delighted to welcome the Alpha Solway team to the Globus Group and recognise the skill and expertise they bring with them. We are extremely proud of what we have achieved in the field of hand protection with our solutions impacting positively on safety and productivity across all industries. The introduction of Alpha Solway further extends our portfolio enabling us to offer a comprehensive range of high performance PPE to new and existing clients.

“Alpha Solway was selected as an acquisition partner as it has a complementary attitude and focus on the development of innovative products that are designed to keep people safe and comfortable in hazardous environments. Together we will make an even stronger force.”

Alpha Solway is headquartered in Dumfriesshire, which is also the location of their design and manufacturing facilities. Globus will maintain Alpha Solway’s offices which will run alongside its own headquarters in Manchester and regional operations in Dubai, UAE.

A spokesperson for Alpha Solway said: “We are really excited to be joining the Globus Group; an organisation known for its commitment to the creation of innovative and game-changing products. We have come a long way since our formation and look forward to the next stage of our development.”
