Russell Roof Tiles says it has become the only British roof tile manufacturer to achieve an “Excellent” rating from the BRE (Building Research Establishment) for responsible sourcing.

BES 6001 is the internationally recognised ‘Framework Standard for the Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products’ by the BRE.

The roof tile manufacturer says the accreditation of “Excellent” for BES 6001:Issue 3, confirms it is serious about investing in sustainability right across its procurement process, from raw materials through to energy management throughout its production factories.

Russell Roof Tiles was given the performance rating according to the standard, meaning the company achieves maximum credits towards BREEAM and the revised Building Regulations, which replaced the ‘Code for Sustainable Homes’.
The new certification means that Russell Roof Tiles is one of 88 companies to be listed on Green Book Live – a web database of companies accredited with BES 6001, which was designed to help specifiers and end users identify products and services that can help to reduce their impact on the environment.

Mark Parsons, commercial technical manager at Russell Roof Tiles commented: “This accreditation sets us apart from other manufacturers and is a recognition of the hard work invested by Alex Gilroy, our national operations support manager, who has ensured we reflect the holistic approach to the sourcing of sustainable materials and reducing our impact on the environment.

“One of our key policies is to ensure we source locally where possible and as a company we are dedicated to reducing the impact we make on our environment, working hard with our customers to create a reduced sustainble footprint.”
