Shaylor Group donates thousands to Beating Bowel Cancer

shaylorShaylor Group has more than doubled its target of œ10,000 in donations to its chosen charity for 2014, Beating Bowl Cancer.

The national contractor says the cause is one that is close to the hearts of Shaylor Group after its founder and chairman Fred Shaylor lost his fight against bowl cancer in 2013. As a result, the entire company has taken part in fundraising for the charity, raising a total of œ22,671 in less than 12 months.

Stephen Shaylor, CEO of Shaylor Group, presented a cheque for the donation to Theo Coyne from Beating Bowel Cancer at the company’s Aldridge headquarters on November 19. The funds were raised from a wide number of initiatives including teams participating in the London Virgin Triathlon and the Wolf Run, the Fred Shaylor Golf Classic and Decembeard.

Mr. Shaylor said: “Obviously Beating Bowel Cancer is a cause very close to our hearts which is reflected in the magnificent sum we have raised as a company. Our big-hearted staff and supply chain partners have worked tirelessly, taking part in events and running competitions to raise the funds.

“In addition to the money, I personally hope we have played a part in raising awareness of this all too common disease.”

Theo Coyne said: “It has been a truly magnificent fundraising effort by all the team at Shaylor Group, more than doubling their initial target. Whilst the last year and a half must have been tremendously hard for everyone, it was evident from day one that they were going to use this experience as motivation in all their activities. The amount raised will help them to support people with bowel cancer and their families and to raise awareness of the disease, its symptoms and the need for early diagnosis.”
