SIGA rewards customer base as part of tenth anniversary celebrations

A number of roofing projects designed to showcase the benefits of roofing slate have been awarded prizes by SIGA as part of its tenth anniversary celebrations.

Both roofing contractors and architects submitted work in response to the SIGA Slate twitter competition #loveSIGAslate, which opened in January 2015 to coincide with the launch of the company’s new account, @SIGASlate.

Following a judging process which saw industry experts select entries that SIGA Slate says best depicted the ‘beauty and longevity’ of roofing slate across the UK, Neil Wilkinson Roofing of Teeside and Durham was named the first place winner.

Neil Wilkinson, of Neil Wilkinson Roofing, has won a three-day trip for two to Spain, which will include an organised visit to a SIGA slate quarry. He is said to be ‘over the moon to have been shortlisted in the top three’ and eventually won, particularly as a sole trader against large roofing companies.

Mr. Wilkinson, who used SIGA 39 from the Specification range, said: “To be recognised for our quality workmanship and win a national competition was fantastic, and since the win we have been offered a number of jobs by larger firms. We’re thoroughly looking forward to the trip in Spain”

Amanda Green, marketing manager for SIG UK Exteriors and organiser of the competition, said: “The competition was designed to encourage our followers and users of SIGA Slate to share images of their work where SIGA had been used. We were really impressed with the standard of entries, but Neil Wilkinson Roofing went above and beyond, with their amount of entries and the quality of their workmanship.”

In second place was G Baker Roofing, from Maidstone, which won a 16GB iPad Air, while Hereward Roofing of Peterborough was awarded œ50 Capital Bonds vouchers for its third place finish.

Steve Pearson, UK commercial manager for natural slate at SIG Roofing, said: “The standard of entries was extremely high, demonstrating the strong talent among roofing contractors nationwide. The competition is among a number of promotional activities planned for 2015 by SIGA, as we are keen to collaborate and build stronger relationships with our customers.”
