Cefil completes roof repair

cefilA waterproofing solution from Cefil has been used to refurbish the failing roof of a warehouse.

SAS Direct Burgess Hill use its 1200m2 warehouse to store plasterboard and dry lining boards. The existing waterproofing had failed in a number of places, which was evident by water damage to stock. The client requested a 15-year warranty in order to protect their stockholdings from persistent water ingress.

Cefil were first contacted to carry out a thorough site survey, which included core samples and pull out testing to determine the correct specification and fixings pre-determined by site specific wind load calculations.

Dominic Hanmore, Cefil UK area manager, said: “Once the existing waterproofing had been thoroughly prepared for an overlay, our 150gsm protection Cefleece was loose laid, followed by our mechanically fastened polyester reinforced 1.2RP single ply membrane. The membrane was mechanically fastened in accordance with the wind load calculations to give a smooth tight finish to the entire roof area. The existing perimeter capping was boxed in using 18mm plywood and replaced with Cefil laminated drip edge metal encapsulating the entire roof in Cefil, thus providing a robust and watertight interface.”

The central glazing did not need replacing, and so a bespoke Cefil laminated metal fabrication was manufactured in order to overcome the potentially difficult upstand detail.
