Range Roofing sees red

Roofing contractor Range Roofing is seeing red with its latest project – a new hotel at Emirates Old Trafford.

The £12m, 150-bedroomed, five storey, four star hotel at the home of Lancashire County Cricket Club is being made weathertight with around 1,000m2 of mechanically-fixed Protan SE1.6mm single ply membrane, in red, to reflect the corporate colours of the club.

Range Roofing’s Peter Faulkner, explained: “Project architect LCA specified red single ply for the roof. We have a long-standing relationship with Protan, built on a cost-effective, quality product and great technical support. In partnership with the developer Galliford Try, we agreed Protan SE1.6mm would be appropriate for the hotel at Emirates Old Trafford, meeting the stringent quality and durability criteria required to help achieve best value.”

Protan SE single ply membrane is available in 1.2mm, 1.6mm and 1.8mm, and is said to be certified to deliver, and potentially surpass, the energy efficiency requirements laid down in Approved Document L and, under the Green Guide, achieve an A+ rating. Hot-air welded at joints and mechanically fixed to the roof, the membrane achieves durability in excess of 30 years, with air leakage controlled / minimised in line with latest Building Regulations.
