At the SPRA AGM which took place on the June 20, 2018, members approved the appointment of Martyn Holloway (business development manager, SFS Group Fastening Technology) to the position of chair and to the re-appointment of Tony Ferri (operations director Scotland, Briggs Amasco) to the position of vice-chair. Martyn takes over from Anthony Carlyle (managing director of IKO Polymeric) who was a council member for many years and SPRA chair from June 2016 to June 2018.

This is not the first time that an associate member representative has led the organisation. On his appointment, Martyn said: “I am very pleased to have the opportunity to chair the SPRA council. I have previously chaired the SPRA technical committee and have been heavily involved with SPRA guidance development. As a manufacturer, I am looking forward to addressing the challenges emerging from Grenfell, Carillion and Brexit to ensure that SPRA supports its members and the wider industry to continue to deliver quality products and services into the future.”

On his re-appointment as vice-chair, Tony Ferri said: “It is important that the SPRA contractor members are represented at the highest level within SPRA, and I am looking forward to working with Martyn, other council members and the SPRA team to bring forward innovative solutions and support to our contractor members to address their particular needs.”
