The Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association (LRWA) is joining forces with the Rooflight Association to provide specialist knowledge and support across both memberships.

The collaboration will see the Rooflight Association become actively involved in developing technical rooflight guidance and training for the LRWA’s members.

The rooflight training will form part of the LRWA’s specialist-applied skills programme (SAP). As part of the partnership, the Rooflight Association will also be enhancing the current rooflights module to ensure it provides the latest information, meets the CITB standard, and is delivered with a focus on practical and theory-based learning.

Explaining the drivers behind the partnership, Sarah Spink, CEO of the LRWA, said: “Following the Rooflight Association’s rebrand and new strategic direction, there are lots of synergies with the LRWA and a mutual respect. By working more closely together, we can share knowledge and best practice that benefits our members.

“As rooflights are commonly found on flat roofs with liquid-applied membranes, there are various specification and installation considerations when waterproofing. With the support of the Rooflight Association’s experts, our members can now benefit from more specialist experience and the latest advice.”

Ian Weakford, chairman of the Rooflight Association, added: “A key part of our mission is to support best practice in the specification and installation of rooflights. Our collaboration with the LRWA is a logical step for us and represents our ambition to play a central role in a more ‘joined-up’ roofing sector.”

The LRWA’s collaboration with the Rooflight Association is part of a wider strategy to form stronger working relationships with other trade associations. The LRWA already works with the Single Ply Roofing Association (SPRA), National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC), and Green Roof Organisation (GRO) to help raise the roofing industry’s profile and achieve shared goals.
