A two-year campus improvement programme by Wigston Academies Trust has seen Firestone’s warm roof system specified for Wigston Academy in Leicestershire.
Firestone’s technical team worked closely with the project’s architects, GSS Architecture in Kettering, to develop the specification, which will enhance the thermal performance of several buildings on campus and provide them with a durable, UltraPly TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin) waterproofing membrane with an excellent service life.
The warm roof system being installed at Wigston Academy comprises Firestone’s V-Force self-adhesive vapour control layer (VCL), followed by 200mm of Firestone’s ISO 95 +GL thermal insulation, which will be fully bonded to the substrate using Firestone’s I.S.O. twin pack adhesive; a two component, low-rise polyurethane adhesive designed specifically for bonding compatible insulation systems to the substrate.
Once the insulation is fully adhered, each section of the roof will be completed with Firestone’s 1.5mm Ultraply TPO waterproofing membrane in light grey.
An environmentally-friendly, UV reflective and energy efficient roofing membrane, Firestone says TPO offers excellent durability and an extended service life, with hot air welded seams for additional strength.
