Avonside Group has renewed its annual company supporter pledge to the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity.

The renewal means Avonside Group has pledged £1,000 to the charity, which provides vital mental, physical and financial wellbeing support to the construction community and their families.

The charity provides a free 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline (0345 605 1956) and app that provides a wide range of information and guidance on a variety of wellbeing issues, including debt management, legal advice, and emergency financial aid.

Avonside Group prides itself on being mental health aware, with many managers trained in mental health first aid. To offer support to employees and sub-contractors that might feel a little isolated during the lockdown period when they were on furlough and not in their usual work environment or routine, Avonside Group sent out regular links via text reminding everyone of the services that the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity offer, and the app to access advice.

By being a corporate advocate for the cause, Avonside Group is supplied with packs of helpline cards that the company can distribute to its nationwide workforce, and advice posters to display at each of its branch premises. It also benefits from free mental health and wellbeing training.

As well as financial support, Avonside Group staff have raised extra funds for the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, with three members of staff cycling 100 miles around London and Surrey in the Prudential RideLondon event in August 2019, raising £913.75.

Bill Hill, chief executive officer of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, said: “Now, more than ever we need the industry to get behind our cause, so that we can look after our construction community. It is only with the ongoing support from organisations such as Avonside, that we can ensure that no construction worker or their family is alone in a crisis. Thank you to Avonside for stepping up to the mark.”

Eddie Stanton, chief executive officer of Avonside Group, added: I think now is a more crucial time than ever to renew support, given that we are heading into Christmas in such uncertain times for all. As a nationwide services provider, Avonside Group has a commitment to support organisations who prioritise construction workers’ health and wellbeing, and I’m proud to pledge our support to the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity for another year.”
