Blackpool roofer Josh Morrison from JR Roofing Lancs has won the ‘Local Hero Award’ at the recent National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) annual awards.

The category, sponsored by SIG Roofing, encourages nominations from the Roofing community and looks for individuals who have made an impact in their local areas.

Josh’s act of kindness towards a local customer who suffered a poor roof repair that he rectified at no cost despite extensive damage, highlights his unwavering commitment to community support and assisting those in need.

He has also demonstrated kindness by donating Easter eggs to The Boathouse Youth and led a team in a Dragon Boat Race to raise funds for the Blue Skies Hospital Fund. Josh is also dedicated to nurturing the next generation of roofers through training and support, regularly visiting the Skill Construction Centre in Kirkham, where he shares his valuable insights on slate roofing and leadwork.

James Talman, CEO of the NFRC, said: “With the ever-increasing focus on competency, the winners of this year’s UK Roofing Awards are perfect ambassadors of installer excellence.

“The standard of entries is higher each year due to the popularity and prestige of the Awards, and this, combined with the independent scrutiny of the expert judges, makes winning an exceptional achievement. Many congratulations!”
