BriggsAmasco has lent its support to an annual contest that showcases the skills of the roofing industry’s young generation.

The company is sponsoring the International Federation for the Roofing Trade (IFD) World Championship of Young Roofers, which takes place in Warsaw, Poland in October.

The contest attracts up-and-coming talent from around the globe and forms part of the annual IFD Conference, a gathering of industry figures for a series of presentations and discussions on current issues within the sector.

This year sees the 26th staging of the World Championship of Young Roofers. Entrants will be pitting their industry skills and knowhow in pitched, flat roofing, waterproofing and metal roofing categories.

The National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) is leading Team GB, which features BriggsAmasco apprentice Ben Revitt, 22, who takes to the international stage following success at last year’s WorldSkills UK in Birmingham where he impressed judges by constructing a single- ply roofing rig over the event’s three days.

Mr Revitt, who will be travelling to Poland for the championship as a member of Britain’s flat roofing team, said: “It’s an absolute honour to be representing BriggsAmasco and my country on the world stage. This is a wonderful challenge and a chance to impress a new set of judges as well as leading members within the industry.”

The victorious young roofers will be announced in a ceremony being held at Warsaw’s National Stadium, home of Poland’s national football team.

Mr Revitt added: It’s fantastic BriggsAmasco is among the championship’s sponsors. It provides a real incentive to the new generation of roofers and we’re extremely grateful for their support.”

The IFD World Championship for Young Roofers takes place from October 25-28, 2016.
