Up to 10 jobs will be created in Bristol when one of the city’s builders’ merchants moves to an enhanced new location later this year.

Selco Builders Warehouse will move into a new 140,000 sq ft site on Cater Road in Bishopsworth on December 14. It will make it the largest branch in Selco’s 69-strong UK network.

It means Selco will leave its Sheene Road premises, which has been home to its Bedminster branch for the last 25 years.

The increase in size of the store will lead to a jobs boost for the local area.

Howard Luft, chief executive of Selco Builders Warehouse, said: “The current site has served us well and it will be sad to leave, but this is a fantastic opportunity to move to a new location, which will offer our customer base of professional tradespeople and businesses an even better experience.

“The internal space at Cater Road alone is more than double the size of the old site, and there is the added advantage of a huge external yard.

“This is an exciting new era for Selco in Bristol, and we look forward to offering the same level of outstanding service and availability to customers that we have become renowned for.

“In addition, we are delighted to be creating up to 10 new full-time positions and offer exciting career opportunities to people in the Bristol area.”

The store will host more than 12,500 building supplies and materials, with wider aisles thereby making it easier for customers to shop.

Other enhancements include a dedicated Click & Collect area, improved café and a wider distribution area for customer deliveries.

Selco’s other Bristol branch, based off Gipsy Patch Lane in Filton, will remain in operation.
