Eurocell, the manufacturer and distributor of PVC-U building products, has announced that it has joined the government’s Kickstart Scheme, to support the national effort of encouraging young people into work and help kickstart the economy.
The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to employers, helping to create new job placements for 16 to 24-year-olds on Universal Credit and who are at risk of long-term unemployment.
Eurocell has joined the Kickstart Scheme by creating 69 new Kickstart jobs, covering different areas of the business. Fifty of the placements will be in the branch network, while the additional 19 placements will be in operational and manufacturing business areas.
The scheme funds 25 hours a week for a six-month period, allowing those who are successfully recruited the opportunity to immerse themselves into the new role. Eurocell will provide on the job training, as well as structured employability training, providing them with the support they require.
Andy McDonnell, managing director of Eurocell, said: “We’re delighted to be part of the Kickstart Scheme, providing the opportunity for younger people to move forward with their careers. At Eurocell, we’re keen to ensure that the scheme provides a long-term positive impact on the individuals taking on the Kickstart roles.”
Meanwhile, Darren Dean, head of manufacturing at Eurocell, added: “The Kickstart Scheme provides an exciting opportunity to encourage younger people to become more involved in our industry. It will help ensure those with the placements get the experience they need and consider a potential career within the sector. We’re very pleased to be able to support this valuable scheme.”
