Heritage Awareness Course returns

The National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) has announced the return of the funded 2-day Heritage course for 2016/17.

The course, part-funded by the Roofing Industry Alliance (RIA) and Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), is specifically designed to support individuals in the roofing industry with developing their knowledge of heritage buildings.

The Heritage Skills Card is increasingly being demanded by Heritage Agencies and other organisations as proof of competency to work on traditional and Heritage buildings.

This course will lead to a Level 3 CSkills Award, and those attending will also find out more about the route to obtain a Heritage Roofing qualification, which enables them to apply for a Heritage Gold CSCS Card.

The objectives of the course are to help individuals:

– Understand how to repair & maintain traditional buildings (roofing)
– Understand relevant legislation & guidance
– Learn traditional materials and methods (roofing)
– Obtain knowledge of maintaining safe working practices (roofing)

The subsidised cost of this course is just £150 (plus VAT) per operative and CITB registered companies are able to claim a £100 CITB grant for the 2-day course.

The course is delivered by Richard Jordan, NFRC approved Heritage trainer and assessor, who has over 27 years’ experience in Heritage Roofing and currently sits on various Heritage committees.
