Hilti has announced plans for significant investment in its specialist building envelope team as part of its efforts to take advantage of the growing façade market.

The Hilti team, headed by David Lyman, building envelope trade manager for Northern Europe, has already undergone significant investment in the last six months and is looking to further increase its staff every year to 2020 following the acquisition of Eurofox in 2011.

According to Mr. Lyman, this was a critical step for the company as it allowed Hilti to “offer the full solution for ventilated façade substructure”.

He added: “At the time we proudly stated that we could meet all customers’ needs for positioning and measuring tools, drilling tools and consumables, anchoring systems, brackets and profiles, screw systems and firestop, and this statement has been boosted further with significant product launches and the investment in the team.”

Two regional managers – Raymond Wrightson covering the North and Central regions and Gavin Westcott the South – support 14 dedicated and specialist account managers nationwide, all of whom have significant experience in the building envelope market. A team of office-based and field engineers are also available to assist from design through to installation.

Mr. Lyman continued: “Since 2011, we have seen double digit growth every year and for this to continue we have to sustainably grow the team to meet customer demand. Both new build and refurbishment projects are increasingly popular, and this trend shows no sign of abating.”

Recent high-profile projects for the Hilti building envelope team have included the Olympic Stadium redevelopment, the Westfield Bradford shopping complex, Stephenson Quarter in Newcastle and 375 Kensington High Street in London.

Mr. Lyman added: “As well as the dedicated sales force, we have invested heavily in our products and engineering resources. The PROFIS façade design software, which is free to download, really has helped push the boundaries of what is possible.

“The combination of being able to design the sub-structure and the fastening system together in PROFIS provides contractors and designers with the much needed harmony between these two critical building elements.

“Looking forward to 2020, we are in a strong position to expand and continually deliver innovative products and services to meet the needs of our customers in this exciting market.”
