IMA launches new partnership with NBS

Insulation Manufacturers Association (IMA) is launching a new partnership with the National Building Specification (NBS) to assist with a peer review and share high-quality technical information.

Insulation being the most important aspect of energy efficiency in a building means that improvements to the built environment present a substantial opportunity to reduce emissions both quickly and effectively.

NBS users will benefit from a greater understanding of the different elements of a building’s fabric, as well as the importance that the correct installation of high-quality thermal insulation will have in reducing the environmental impact of a building and reducing energy consumption.

IMA can access a wide range of manufacturers offering innovative solutions for the built environment. This new relationship will help roll out this knowledge, and ensure the full benefits of a building’s insulation strategy to deliver the very best energy performance outcome for its buildings.

Simon Storer, chief executive of the IMA, said: “We have long advocated the need for a fabric first approach to meet the binding net zero 2050 targets, and being able to bring NBS users as much information as possible at specification point is crucial in making the right choices to meet or exceed the current regulations.”

Sascia Elliot, head of partnerships at NBS, added: “We hope through our partnership that we can shine a light on the wide range of applications for PIR and PUR insulation materials, as manufacturers look to develop new technologies to improve performance and specification for building insulation.

“By working directly with the IMA, we can bring up to the minute technical information to our customers and specifiers, ensuring information reaches the marketplace with one voice.”
