The Institute of Roofing (IoR) has appointed Mark Dunn of Sika and re-appointed Graeme Millar of Gaeme Millar Roofing Consultants to its board.

Mark Dunn, head of training of roofing at Sika, brings his 38 years of experience in the industry where he has also served as regional officer for two years at the IoR since joining in 2005.

Speaking of his new responsibility as an IoR board member, Mark said: “I have been involved in the institute for 18 years, and it has served me well. This is a great opportunity to give something back and help steer the IoR, ensuring it keeps benefitting our members.

“The IoR is continuing to grow, and with Kay Rose at the reigns as CEO, we have seen some real positive change of late. I am looking forward to being involved in some of these decision-making processes that will ultimately offer even more positive transformation for our sector.”

Mark will also be responsible for delivering the IoR’s Associate Course – a course designed for anyone considering a professional career in roofing, particularly with an eye to moving into a supervisory or management role. It provides essential skills and knowledge to enable candidates to progress in the roofing industry.

Graeme Millar has re-joined the board after taking his leave last year. Graeme’s experience in construction spans 42 years as he started his career as a trainee slater at William Millar and Sons in 1978. He is the fifth-generation roofing contractor in his family, and his high-profile career saw him serve as managing director of Bain and Irvine Ltd for 33 years, as well as managing partner for Graeme Millar Roofing Consultants for 20 years.
