The Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association (LRWA) has announced the appointment of Sarah Spink (MIoR) as its first chief executive officer (CEO).
With more than a decade of experience in the liquid roofing sector, the LRWA says Sarah will provide strategic direction to the association as it continues to grow, raising awareness of both the technical and financial benefits of specifying liquid applied waterproofing systems.
As CEO, the association says her primary role will be to enhance the support, training and guidance the LRWA already offers to its members and the wider industry, as well as encourage new membership to the association.
Sarah, who previously worked for a leading liquid roofing manufacturer in both commercial and technical roles, joined the LRWA eight years ago, and soon became the chair of the marketing committee. She played an active role within the LRWA, and in 2010 spear-headed the re-brand of ELWA (European Liquid Waterproofing Association), to what is now the LRWA. In 2013, Sarah was asked to join the board becoming the youngest and only female director.
Chairman of the LRWA, Cliff Weston, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Sarah as CEO of the association. She not only brings her invaluable liquid roofing experience and knowledge, but her passion and enthusiasm for the industry. This is the association’s first CEO which cements our pledge to continue to be the voice of the liquid industry, and support all our members and key stakeholders’ interests. We wish Sarah every success in her new role.”
Sarah added: “I’m delighted to take on this new position at such an exciting and demanding time for the UK construction industry. The Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association (LRWA) represents one of the fastest growing sectors and because of this, we need to be instrumental in ensuring all the relevant professional bodies and trade associations work together to address the key issues in our industry – including maintaining quality standards and addressing the skills gap by developing and enhancing system training.
“I’m looking forward to getting stuck into my new role and bringing my skills to the table.”
