The Liquid Roofing and Waterproofing Association (LRWA) has announced the winners of its annual Charity Team Challenge.
Now in its fifth year, the challenge invites teams of up to 10 people to walk, run, cycle or swim as far as they can in 30 minutes to achieve the highest number of kilometres.
The 2024 event attracted 170 participants across 20 teams who clocked up a total of 1,115km, raising more than £5,600 for the LRWA’s chosen charity LandAid.
Participants could gain bonus kilometres for sharing their efforts online, taking a photo of their activity in the most original place, completing the farthest distance in 30 minutes, and raising the most money for LandAid.
Sika (Sika Wolf Pack) scooped the gold award, silver was awarded to Axter (Axter Allstars) and bronze went to Everlast Group (Everlasting Endurance).
The most original photo, voted by the public online, was awarded to Scott Deighton from Everlasting Endurance for his picture taken while cycling through the Kotor mountains in Montenegro. His team also raised the most money for LandAid.
As an extra incentive this year, individuals who achieved the most kilometres in each activity gained a five-kilometre bonus.
Louise Rogers from Axter walked the farthest while colleague Luke Rootham achieved the longest distance on an indoor bike. Jon Shum from Sika clocked the highest number of kilometres on an outdoor bike and teammate Max Colligan ran the longest distance. Kara Doble from Triflex gained her five-kilometre prize for the longest swim.
Discussing the 2024 event, Sarah Spink, CEO of the LRWA, said: “Once again, it was fantastic to see so many people get involved in the challenge and raise money for a very worthwhile cause.
“We have been overwhelmed by the number of posts, shares and likes on LinkedIn which have helped to boost fundraising as well as our sector’s profile. The competitive spirit was clear to see as the teams sought to top last year’s results and find new backdrops for their photos!
“We really appreciate the time and effort people have put into entering the challenge and would like to thank everyone who took part and kindly donated.”
The challenge took place from 24 June – 12 July 2024 and will see winners Sika receive their charity challenge trophy at the annual LRWA Awards and Gala in March 2025.
