Roof systems manufacturer Marley is calling on social housing providers across the UK to leverage the funding opportunity presented by the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund.
Previously known as the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF), applications for the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund Wave 3 are open for local authorities, combined authorities, registered providers of social housing, and registered charities that own social housing.
The Warm Homes Fund offers crucial financial support for retrofitting social housing with building fabric and/or technological upgrades, such as solar PV systems.
By leveraging this funding, housing providers can improve the energy efficiency of social housing stock that is currently rated below EPC band C, which in turn improves living quality for tenants.
Stuart Nicholson, roof systems director at Marley, said: “Social housing providers play a pivotal role in leading the charge towards the UK’s ambitions for a net zero future. This funding offers them an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both sustainability and tenant wellbeing.
“By integrating solar PV solutions into their properties, they can help to reduce their resident’s energy bills, allowing tenants to benefit from lower living costs and increased financial stability all while helping social housing providers meet government sustainability targets and EPC compliance requirements.”
Social housing providers are encouraged to apply for funding under Wave 3 of the Warm Homes initiative, with applications open until 25 November 2025.
Marley has stressed that it can support local authorities and social housing providers with the following:
- Production of detailed NBS specifications – used by architects and other building professionals to outline the products and standards of a project.
- In depth calculations of the kilowatt output from our Marley SolarTile® solution – to clearly demonstrate the potential benefits tenants could receive as a result of installing solar PV.
- Assistance on surveying existing housing stock to determine the sustainability of solar PV.
- Onsite support for installation teams when installing solar panels.
