The Metal Cladding & Roofing Manufacturers Association (MCRMA) has announced the addition of two new CPD modules to its online CPD programme which is open to anyone seeking to develop their knowledge and skills within the metal building envelope sector.
The CPD module Mineral wool insulation installation: best practice guide sets out an overview of the factors that need to be taken into account in the storage, handling and installation of mineral wool insulation in built-up metal roof and wall cladding systems. The CPD examines design factors and also includes guidance on both roof and wall installation and standards of workmanship
The CPD module Serviceability states and deflections criteria explains the importance of setting the deflection criteria at the design stage and implementing them at the construction stage to ensure that all elements of the construction perform as expected. The CPD also includes guidance on installation tolerances for purlins and rails supporting profile metal roof sheeting and wall cladding.
The new CPDs have been accredited by the CPD Certification Service and are based on MCRMA’s downloadable guidance documents which have been drafted by industry experts from across the MCRMA membership.
There are now five approved CPDs available; the earlier approved modules cover wind loading guidance on roof and wall cladding; snow loading guidance on cladding and the installation of side rails and purlins.
Each module represents an anticipated 60 minutes of professional development and following the successful completion of a CPD; a certificate is available for immediate download.
MCRMA has chosen to provide online CPD courses as they provide flexibility and convenience, allowing an individual to plan their learning around their other work priorities as course material is always accessible online through a log-in portal.
