Move with the times to find the talent of the future

Basingstoke HR specialists Reality HR have launched a new initiative to help companies working in the construction industry in the south to attract the workforce of the future to ensure their survival and success in years to come.

Attracting and retaining the right staff is the key to success for any company, but for smaller construction companies it can be a major blow when a member of staff leaves as the workforce is small in the first place. With so many changes in the world of work it can be hard for construction business owners to keep up.

Sally-Ann Hall Jones, who became the new chief executive officer at Reality HR in April, launched the campaign. She said: “Attracting and retaining talent can be a major challenge for small and medium businesses in the construction industry, and as recruitment can be a costly process it’s important to get it right.

“Creating a positive employer brand, which helps to tells the story of what life is like working for the company, is just one step which businesses can take to help attract the right people to come and work for them. That’s why we’ve started our campaign – Attracting and Retaining the Workforce of the Future.

“We are saying to the construction industry that they need to move with the times and throw the old recruitment book out of the window. It’s about the right process to find the right talent to help your business grow and that person might not even be looking for a role right now.

“There are so many changes now for small businesses. It might be that they choose to outsource their recruitment completely to an HR consultancy like us at Reality HR – we recently helped support AJC Carpentry and RW Armstrong with similar matters.

“Other choices include working with a resourcing partner, a recruitment consultancy, or they might do it themselves – there is no one-size fits all – it’s about using the right approach to recruit the right person at the right time,” said Sally-Ann.

The campaign features business advice and information, including a series of articles around this subject. It will culminate in a business breakfast event. The seminar takes place on Wednesday September 26, with keynote speaker Roger Roberts, a former HR Director for supermarket giant Tesco.
