The National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC) is set to become an End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO), for the roofing trailblazer apprenticeship standard, subject to some final checks from the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and the Apprenticeship Assessment Service.
As of September 2019, all new apprenticeship standards must conclude with an external end-point assessment, undertaken by an organisation independent of either the employer or training provider.
The main advantage in this new process for the employer is that they can choose which organisation undertakes this assessment, and the NFRC is now urging all roofing contractors to choose the federation as their EPAO.
Bob Richardson, head of technical and training at the NFRC, said: “Many companies are not aware they have a choice over which organisation they choose to be their EPAO, and often just go with the one chosen for them which may not always be the best choice.
“We are urging all roofing contractors to choose NFRC, as the EPAO for their apprentices. By choosing us, contractors can be assured of our proven experience and expertise in the assessment process.”
Bob concluded: “We are working closely with the Institute for Apprenticeships and the Education and Skills Funding Agency, as well as putting in the necessary processes in place internally, to ensure that we are ready to start assessing the first apprentices to complete their roofing trailblazer.”
