SCA Wood’s new planing mill at Tunadal was inaugurated on October 31, October. The 80 million SEK investment means increased productivity and better prerequisites for product development and innovations.
The new planing mill comes with numerous benefits, including a splitting line and packaging line to increase the company’s productivity.
Cladding, studs and roofpanels, which are made of spruce from northern Sweden, are now produced at the planning mill at Tunadal. Going forward, cladding will be one of the main products produced by SCA Wood.
Joakim Nehrer, sales and marketing director Scandinavia at SCA Wood, said: “With this investment we can meet our customers’ needs and offer them more competitive products.
“This milestone is an important part for both Tunadal’s and SCA’s development. The previous band saw has been replaced with a split saw, which creates a more homogeneous surface, and contributes to decreased waste of paint, which is in line with our sustainability work.
Anna Schönström, manager at Tunadal’s planning mill, said: “SCA Wood has more than doubled its capacity at its new planing mill. And it’s great that the residue from the process now turns into pellets, and converts into heat at the Ortviken and Östrands mills.”
During the inauguration, Jerry Larsson, the president of SCA Wood, gave a speech to guests, who in turn, were given a guided tour of the new planing mill.
