Protan has acquired the Turkish roofing producer, Multiplan, for an undisclosed sum.
Multiplan is said to be the largest supplier of sustainable roofs and membranes in Turkey and is an established brand in its markets. The factory in Gebze, east of Istanbul, is a modern production unit that produces roof and tunnel membranes in PVC and TPO.
Acquiring Multiplan’s assets and production machinery and knowhow, Protan has established a new company called ‘Protan Multiplan’ to gain access to new markets and increase production capacity for further growth.
Erik Øyno, chief executive officer of Protan Group, said: “We are making this acquisition of Multiplan’s assets, production machinery and knowhow, and have established a new company ‘Protan Multiplan’ to gain access to new markets and increased production capacity for further growth.
“As a result of strong growth and increased demand for our environmentally friendly products, this acquisition is a natural step. We will continue production in Norway with unabated strength, and further production capacity is necessary to be able to continue growth and ensure our delivery capability in international markets.
“Through production in Turkey, we achieve proximity to significant markets around the world, both where we already sell our products, but also in new markets with great potential.”
The Protan Group currently has subsidiaries in Poland, Sweden, the UK, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Spain, Lithuania and Hungary. In 2018, Protan had a turnover of EUR 170 million and a profit before tax of EUR 9 million. Multiplan in Turkey has a turnover in excess of EUR 10 million in revenue.
