Despite the recent rise in remote working, Pura Facades still believes there is a place for responsible face-to-face collaboration within the construction sector, having just moved into a 3,600 sq ft office in Kilburn, west London.
The business is on track to achieve a turnover of £7.5 million in 2020 and recently saw an upturn in new orders, despite the dampening impact the coronavirus is having on the wider economy.
New projects secured in the last few months include the recladding of Fulham Football Club’s Craven Cottage stadium, Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, Berkeley Group’s Clarendon Works in Wood Green, Stephenson House development in London and the University of Strathclyde.
James Butler, commercial director of Pura Facades, said: “Working closely with architects and specifiers, we often rely on that creative spark to come up with new ways of solving building design challenges. Using technologies such as Zoom and Teams was fine during lockdown, but you can’t beat personal interaction in an industry like ours, where those ‘eureka’ moments are so important. Sometimes the best ideas come from chance conversations in the corridor or chance meetings in reception.”
Peter Johnson, founder and chairman of Vivalda Group, which owns Pura Facades, added: “Not only is Pura’s new base designed for purpose, it fits the Vivalda Group strategy of owning our trading premises, not renting. Seven out of our eight UK locations are based in premises owned outright and debt-free. This provides us with a solid basis from which to operate, avoiding the sort of friction we’re seeing at the moment between so many businesses and their landlords.”
Pura Façades was previously located within the Vivalda Group headquarters in London. The business also operates a logistics / fabrication facility in Birmingham.
