RCI’s 2024 Façade Awards UK and Pitched Roofing Awards have managed to raise £4.8k and £9.6k for their chosen charities Mates in Mind and Band of Builders, respectively.
The events, which took place in November saw 420 and 320 (at Façade Awards UK and Pitched Roofing Awards respectively) attendees celebrate their industries while donating to the charities through QR codes and a silent auction selling everything from signed sports jerseys to experience days.
Commenting on the large donations, Sam Downie, managing director of Mates in Mind, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Façade Awards UK, the Pitched Roofing Awards and to everyone who took part in the events. Together you raised an amazing £4,802.94 which will allow us to continue in our mission to make working in the sector better for workers’ mental health, by influencing for change, by helping organisations create better work cultures, and by providing direct support.
“Between July and October, we saw a 224% increase in the number of people contacting our free text support service (text BEAMATE to 85258) and the money raised can help us to keep this vital service running for three months. At Mates in Mind, our aim is to build positive mental health in and through work, our goal is to create cultures of prevention so that no one reaches crisis point. Thank you for helping us to help others.”
Gavin Crane, CEO of Band of Builders, commented: “We’re truly grateful for this incredible support from the Façade Awards and Pitched Roofing Awards. The funds raised will go directly towards providing critical assistance to construction workers and their families, offering help when it’s needed most.
