Record breaking year for Russell Roof Tiles

Russell Roof Tiles (RRT) has invested thousands of pounds in its dedicated UPVC facility following a record-breaking year for the company in 2014, which saw the plant manufacture seven million products.

The 28,000ft2 site in Burton-on-Trent was acquired by the business in 1997 and manufactures plastic accessories for dry fixing and ventilation, including ridge, verge, hip and clips. RRT says having its own factory enables the company to manage its own supply chain, with the increase in UPVC output reflecting overall growth in sales and specifically dry-fix following the introduction of changes to BS 5534 for tiling and slating.

RRT has recently invested œ85,000 in injection moulding machinery for the UPVC plant to help meet the growing demand for dry-fix solutions as a result of these changes, which come into force at the end of February 2015. This follows an investment of œ160,000 in additional new tooling for the UPVC plant in 2013.

Alex Gilroy, national operations support manager at RRT, said: “The investment in new machinery at the UPVC factory has improved production efficiencies which has helped achieve record outputs and follows increased demand for Russell Roof Tiles dry-fix products, such as Russfast.”
