More roofers are seeking consumer protection

An organisation that provides businesses in the roofing sector with Insurance Backed Guarantees (IBGs) and Deposit Protection has said it has seen a 35% spike in membership enquiries in the last quarter.

The Consumer Protection Association (CPA) has been providing support to home improvement professionals for over twenty-two years and in the last quarter has seen a record number of roofing professionals using their services.

Jeremy Brett, director at the CPA explained why he thinks the spike has happened: “The roofing sector has always been one of the markets we serve alongside glass and glazing, solar and kitchens and bathrooms, but it is particularly active now. From talking to members, we feel this is being driven by an increase of work flow in the sector, with many home improvement companies performing above expectations following Brexit.

“Our IBGs are active for up to twenty years for roofing and associated projects, which is a great selling point for our members. We’ve also invested in our offering in this sector and taken time to work with members to ensure the service we offer can help them to generate leads quicker and more effectively. The CPA brand name is known by homeowners, which means that our members find it easier to sell to them.”

The CPA says it is recognised by consumers as one of the most trusted resources for finding accredited and vetted installers.

As well as Insurance Backed Guarantees and Deposit Protection; the CPA also offer its members beneficial schemes such as marketing support, sales training help, and quarterly assessment reports that tell members what their customers think about the work they are doing.

In 2015 it met with Nadine Dorries MP regarding the removal of VAT on home improvements.
