Bracknell Roofing has secured a contract to re-roof some of New Forest District Council’s housing stock.
The company, which has a depot in Eastleigh, says it won the contract – which is valued at around £1.9m – after a competitive tender process.
The contract will run in two phases over the next 18 months and will see around 285 of the council’s aging house stock – including detached and semi-detached houses, as well as bungalows – in Hythe and Lymington have completely new roofs.
Bracknell Roofing’s managing director Simon Smith commented: “The team at our Eastleigh depot, led by Paul Stubbington, must be congratulated for securing this contract in the face of stiff competition, as it is a significant contract win for Bracknell Roofing.
“Of course, we had to be very keen on price to ensure that New Forest District Council could be sure that it was getting the best value for money – but we’d also like to think that the council was impressed with the track record we have, the quality of our work and the fact that the council could rely on us to deliver within the required timescale.
“We have more than 20 years’ experience delivering projects for New Forest District Council, but in today’s competitive climate, we could not rely on our reputation and track record alone.”
The company is the UK’s second largest roof, slate and tiling contractor, with more than 400 roofers across the UK. It has the mantra ‘big enough to trust, small enough to care’.
The Eastleigh depot will deploy six roofing teams to work on the contract, which will involve stripping each property’s roof back to trusses and then applying new underlay, roofing and tiles, as well as rendering leadwork around chimneys to seal the roof.
Mr Smith added: “The New Forest District Council project is another feather in our cap and one that we will be proud to include in our portfolio of work, which demonstrates our capabilities and expertise in installing roofs on new houses, refurbishing or completely re-roofing older houses.”
