Russell Roof Tiles has presented a cheque for £8,000 to Help for Heroes at its recent fundraising football match at St Georges Park.
Held at the home of the Football Association, the 11-a-side charity football match was made up of both Russell Roof Tiles staff and customers, including representatives from Avonside, SM Roofing, PJ Colours, Liberty Roofing, Bracknell Roofing and Advanced Sites Services, who all came together to support this great cause.
The company says that it was a fitting climax to its 50th anniversary, which has seen the business and its customers raise over £18,000 for both Help the Heroes and Macmillan Cancer Care.
Other fundraising activities for Help the Heroes this year have included staff doing a Zumba fitness class in the summer and Russell Roof Tiles’ anniversary celebration in September which was attended by 200 guests and included an auction, hosted by BBC sports presenter Garry Richardson and raffle.
Dean Williams an ex-serviceman and now central England regional manager, accepted the cheque from Russell Roof Tiles’ managing director Andrew Hayward. He commented: “Help for Heroes is all about ‘doing your bit’ and this incredible dedication to fundraising by Russell Roof Tiles is a wonderful example of people rallying support and having a great deal of fun while they raise money for a wonderful cause. The money raised allows us to continue to rebuild lives and we are truly grateful for this offer of generous support.”
Russell Roof Tiles says 2015 has been a hugely memorable year for them, as in addition to the large number of anniversary events and activities, the company has been recognised for its excellence in manufacturing, winning an award for Large Manufacturer of the Year.
Andrew Hayward, managing director at Russell Roof Tiles, said: “It has certainly been a very special year for the business with so many customers, suppliers and staff all joining together to mark the 50th anniversary. It is fantastic that part of the anniversary celebrations we have also been able to give something back to such great causes. Help for Heroes is a superb charity and provides essential support for the brave men and women in the armed service to aid their road to recovery.”
