Life-saving charity, Nith Inshore Rescue, has become the latest organisation to benefit from roof tile manufacturer, Russell Roof Tiles’ fundraising efforts.

This was the first year that Russell Roof Tiles chose to fundraise for Dumfries-based Nith Inshore Rescue who received a £2,000 donation from the team.

The money raised will go towards Nith Inshore Rescue’s vital lifeboat operation and will contribute to the reconditioning and upgrading of its Land Rover ambulance, making it serviceable for many years to come.

Russell Roof Tiles chose to fundraise for Nith Inshore Rescue after introducing a special Community Fund at the start of the year. The Fund allows a number of charities and organisations, which are a pivotal part of the community, to share and benefit from a fundraising pot.

Andrew Hayward, managing director at Russell Roof Tiles, said: “We were keen to fundraise for Nith Inshore Rescue after hearing about the impressive work that the team does, giving up their valuable time to provide a search and rescue operation.

“I am delighted that we were able to contribute £2,000, aiding the volunteers to carry on their life-saving work and provide a vital service within the community.”

Ian Cowie, treasurer for Nith Inshore Rescue, said: “We are extremely grateful to Russells for their offer of financial support through various fundraising activities. We are a voluntary organisation and rely wholly on donations, with every penny going towards our vital lifeboat operation. Costs are ever increasing to ensure we provide an effective and efficient service in terms of maintaining our lifeboat station, lifeboats, service vehicles, equipment and crew training to national maritime and health & safety standards.

“We would like to sincerely thank Russells, their staff, suppliers and customers in the knowledge and all money they raise will be invested in saving lives and will be of great benefit to the local community and beyond.”

Russell Roof Tiles has always been dedicated to supporting local causes, raising £78,000 for a variety of organisations since 2015.
