Allan Anderson has been appointed as chairman of the Lead Contractors Association (LCA), taking over from Mike Hempstock.

With 38 years’ experience in the lead industry, Allan started off his career as an apprentice in 1982 with Rosser & Russell. His career then saw him work his way up through the industry for many well-known companies, until in 1996, he set up his own company, Architectural Lead & Metalwork, based in Essex. Allan worked on many prestigious projects including the Ornate Staircase at Buckingham Palace.

With Allan’s commitment to quality and an ethos ‘that only the best will do’, he is looking forward to his new challenge as chairman of the LCA. Outgoing chairman Mike Hempstock said Allan will be a great asset to the association, and will build upon the achievements and developments of the independent authority on the use of lead in roofing.

A new publication entitled: ‘Lead Sheet in Roofing: The Ultimate Guide to Best Practice’ has been published by the LCA and provides the industry with an essential guide for architects, designers, roofers and historic property owners on all aspects of the use of lead sheet in roofing construction.
