Wienerberger has appointed Stephanie Palmer as its new sustainability adviser in an effort to further strengthen its green credentials.
The company says Ms. Palmer has substantial knowledge gained from working within the field of sustainability, and has always dedicated her career towards minimising the manufacturing industry’s environmental footprint and encouraging others to evaluate the environmental impact of their actions. She has promoted the green agenda via discussions with members of both the domestic and European parliaments during her time as technical and sustainability adviser at the British Ceramic Confederation and by sitting on committees dedicated to addressing resource efficiency challenges within brick and roof tile manufacturing.
Stephanie’s new responsibilities at Wienerberger include working alongside all departments to embed environmental awareness and social responsibility in the company’s activities.
Commenting on her new role, Ms. Palmer said: “I am very excited to be advising Wienerberger on methods to enhance its already impressive green credentials. As the construction industry continues to go from strength to strength following the economic downturn, the demands placed upon the manufacturers of construction products are growing exponentially and it is vital we minimise any impact the associated increase in activity may have upon the environment.
“From a sustainability perspective the industry is going through an interesting transition in terms of standards and legislative renewal, and I’m very much looking forward to working closely with Wienerberger’s departments to not only keep up to date with these changes but to go beyond their requirements.”
