Kingspan Light + Air has launched a new version of its award-winning Kingspan Day-Lite Kapture rooflight — a precision engineered rooflight offering outstanding light transmission and diffusion.
Day-Lite Kapture’s innovative design provides a number of benefits over standard domed rooflights. Its triple-skin polycarbonate structure features a prismatic layer that uses microscopic structures to efficiently scatter light, achieving 100% light diffusion and visual light transmission of between 81% and 83%. This helps to eliminate glare and hot spots, reducing heat gains and the need for mechanical cooling, whilst providing a comfortable and consistent light at the working plane. Polycarbonate also offers excellent impact resistance and longevity, protecting against damage, discolouration and maintaining its performance over its lifetime.
Meanwhile, its unique contoured shape allows the domed rooflight to capture more daylight at low sun angles, illuminating spaces from above even during the early morning and late evening. Combined with its even diffusion, this supports more human centric lighting design, fostering a greater connection between occupants and natural light rhythms. This can support improved sleep patterns, mood, productivity, and overall well-being. It also helps to reduce artificial lighting demand — limiting operational emissions and costs.
The combination of outstanding light diffusion and capture also means considerably less roof space is needed to achieve an effective level of daylighting, preserving insulation levels, reducing installation time, and providing additional room for solar generation technologies.
As with all Kingspan Light + Air solutions, Day-Lite Kapture is supported by extensive technical services, ranging from daylighting design to ongoing service and maintenance.
