For over 50 years, Hornsey Steel Panels and Sections Ltd has been a cornerstone of quality and reliability in the roofing and cladding industry. Based in the idyllic village of Bucknell, nestled in the Shropshire countryside, this family-run British business has built a reputation for delivering perfect results — on time and in full.
From humble beginnings to modern success
Founded in the heart of rural England, Hornsey Steel has grown to employ 26 residents while remaining deeply connected to its roots. “We’ve come a long way in those 50 years,” says company director Samuel Hornsey. “But we haven’t forgotten our roots—they anchor us and provide the strong foundations upon which we continue to build.”
Hornsey Steel specializes in high-quality steel panels and sections, offering the best service at competitive prices. The company takes pride in its rich manufacturing heritage and values the contributions of both past and present team members who have been involved in making its journey possible.
A new chapter: State-of-the-art manufacturing facility
October 1, 2024, marked a milestone for Hornsey Steel as the company moved into a brand-new, purpose-built 2,325m² manufacturing facility. The move represents a bold step forward, enabling the company to expand its production capabilities and diversify its product range.
The facility houses highly advanced equipment, including a Thalmann TD200 6.4m double folder, a Thalmann TDZ200 4.2m single folder, a CIDAN 4.1m shear guillotine, and a CIDAN Stackmaster.
“Our visit to Thalmann in Switzerland was inspiring,” says Samuel Hornsey, Managing Director. “We were impressed not only by the capability of the equipment but also by the warm hospitality of our hosts. These machines are a game-changer for us, significantly boosting efficiency and productivity.”
A vision for the future
The new facility is more than just a manufacturing space — it’s a symbol of the company’s forward-thinking ethos. Designed to foster collaboration and creativity, the space reflects Samuel Hornsey’s vision of a workplace where employees look forward to coming each day.
“We wanted to create an amazing space that inspires our team to excel,” says Samuel. “This investment isn’t just about machines; it’s about creating opportunities for our employees and providing better service for our customers as we evolve into the future.”
A bright future ahead
With an expanded product range and increased productivity, Hornsey Steel is poised for continued success in the competitive steel industry. The company’s combination of cutting-edge technology and dedication to its local roots ensures that it remains a trusted name in British manufacturing.
