Four newly built townhouses in London have been fitted with the high-performing Wraptite air-barrier from the A. Proctor Group.
Built and designed according to the Code for Sustainable Homes, the Kings Mews development offers the latest stunning contemporary homes from Falconet Property Development. These environmentally designed houses have been built with energy efficiency in mind, including triple glazed windows, solar panels, air source heat pumps, underfloor heating and a mechanical ventilation heat recovery system, but it is also the approach to thermal insulation which is forward-thinking.
Beach Seakins, managing director at Falconet, said: “The specification of Wraptite enabled us to make improvements and savings on a traditional approach to a cavity insulation system. Using Wraptite has meant that we could achieve superior levels of airtightness, whilst at the same time maintaining enhanced protection from water ingress and in controlling condensation.
“The self-adhesive nature of the membrane removed the additional time, cost and equipment which would have been required in a traditional installation, speeding up the install substantially.”
Wraptite is the only self-adhering vapour permeable air barrier certified by the British Board of Agrément (BBA).
Applied externally on the outside of the structural frame, Wraptite simplifies the process of maintaining the envelope’s integrity, as there are fewer building services and structural penetrations to be sealed.
The high vapour permeability of Wraptite allows the substrate beneath to dry quickly and moisture vapour to escape, and reduces the likelihood of mould, mildew, condensation, timber distortion and metal corrosion.
