Freefoam Building Products has announced a collaboration with the Ideal Home Show and Off Site Factory Homes. Working with the designers of this year’s show, Freefoam X-Wood Urban cladding has been used on the show home and theatre – the focal point of the whole show.
Always keen to push the boundaries of design, this year’s show house has been built with change and adaptability in mind. The Evolving Home is a large family home that has been constructed using a seven steel frame module, with X-Wood Cladding in two colour options: white and misty grey, installed on the majority of the exterior façade.
David Richards, the architect, explained: “We wanted to showcase the flexibility of modular building to create an evolving space. We also wanted to combine the show Theatre space into the design to create a hub of activity within the exhibition hall. The whole house was constructed off-site by Off Site Factory Homes in separate ‘modules’ that can be placed side-by-side, end-to-end or stacked on top of each other, allowing for a variety of configurations. We chose X-Wood Cladding as it is relatively light, easy to handle and able to withstand the rigors of transportation – as well as looking good throughout the show. I would definitely recommend it to homeowners and housebuilders.”
X-Wood cladding is a premium grade composite 16mm thick cladding manufactured from three durable layers, each with its own high-performance properties. A heavy-duty plastic foam core, a durable solid plastic skin and a choice of two superior outer coatings – woodgrain Renolit colour film or subtle embossed wood effect PVC, both available in a variety of colours to suit all designs.
Louise Sanderson, Freefoam marketing manager, commented: “With around 13,500 visitors expected at the show each day, we are really pleased to have the Freefoam cladding range exposed to such a large, engaged homeowner audience. Cladding is rapidly becoming a very popular home improvement product and our range is meeting the demands and aspirations of homeowners and housebuilders alike. The X-Wood range has been developed specifically for both renovation and new-build projects, the perfect product to create an Ideal Home”
The Show is open 22nd March – 7th April, Olympia, London
