In the first application in Scotland of DuPont Corian as a rain screen façade, architectural practice Chambers Mcmillan has created an exterior ‘shell’ as part of an architecturally sympathetic extension to a much-loved period home.

The addition creates a small garden room with a canopy covering an external area and connecting it to the house, including a linear workbench which continues through the glazing to the outside area beneath the canopy.

Corian Quality Network Industrial Partners RMC Worktops delivered the precise fabrication, preparation and installation of approximately 35m² of the material, supplied by CD (UK).

The 45° corners and junctions help create a seamless effect between the walls and the roof, which has concealed guttering, and the visual solidity of the Corian cladding complements and contrasts with the Victorian stone-built original structure.

The Anthracite colour specified is tonally similar to the existing slate roof, while having a lustre that brings the Corian to life on the most overcast days.
