ITP vapour control layer featured on 200-unit conversion project

ITP’s FlameOut Block FR vapour control layer has been extensively specified for a major office to residential conversion scheme at Station House in Milton Keynes.

Scapolan Burney Architects was commissioned to design the conversion for developer Gold Wynn Group. The practice developed layouts to expose and celebrate the existing structure, retaining floorplates spanning 159m with columns at 9m intervals and curtain wall mullions at 1.5m centres. Drawing on their extensive experience of similar projects of a complex nature, X Construct oversaw the construction of the scheme.

FlameOut Block FR was sourced via builders merchant, Penlaw Fixings, and installed by specialist contractors, Bul Interiors, to provide long-term protection to the building envelope. The product uses advanced textile technology to increase air tightness and provide an effective barrier preventing interior warm air moisture from reaching the insulation layer. The polyethylene-based membrane has a mono-filament reinforcement scrim to provide excellent tensile strength. FlameOut Block FR is independently tested to EN 13501-1 and has a Euroclass B-s1, d0 fire rating which is fully compliant for use in high-rise buildings.

Marisa Schofield, ITP account manager, said: “FlameOut Block FR has become a fixture at multi-storey residential projects throughout the UK. This landmark project is the latest example. Installing our vapour control layer will help to ensure that this striking transformation stands the test of time.”
