Following the success of its open day in 2015, Derbyshire Construction Skills College (DCSC) has announced the dates for a series of 2016 open days at its site in Stanton by Dale, Derbyshire.
These will be held on Tuesday 22 March, Monday 18 April and Monday 16 May and will provide visitors with the opportunity to see the facilities available and discuss any training needs that they have.
Set up in January 2015 by Dave Hartshorn and Richard Clapp, DCSC was originally established to address training and recruitment issues affecting the pair’s own company but they quickly recognised an opportunity to address far wider issues within the industry and it soon developed into an established College.
As a result, it is now certified by CSkills Awards to deliver Framework Apprenticeship courses in built-up felt roofing, roof sheeting and cladding and roof slating and tiling, as well as OSAT NVQ level 2 and 3 assessments in a range of roofing trades and a selection of Specialist Apprenticeship Programmes (SAP) and Specialist Upskilling Programmes (SUP).
In addition to this, DCSC offers over 40 health and safety, first aid and construction related courses such as Site Management Safety Training Schemes (SMSTS), Site Supervisor Safety Training Schemes (SSSTS), Site Environmental Awareness Training Schemes (SEATS) & Temporary Works Co-ordinator Training Courses (TWCTC).
Bespoke courses can be tailored to suit clients’ needs, whether it’s a small roofing company looking to add to its current skills or a main contractor looking to improve its management and supervision of roofing and cladding works.
With the college going from strength to strength, DCSC is now looking to introduce more trade apprenticeships and NVQs together with more provision for plant courses.
