Shrewsbury roofers and builders will have the chance to learn about the latest in advanced glass fibre flat roofing systems at a training day hosted by builders’ merchants, General Building Plastics.

GB Plastics has teamed up with building materials supplier Cromar to host the training day at its Shrewsbury branch on the Battlefield Enterprise Park on Thursday, September 21.

According to GB Plastics, the day will focus on the features and applications of the Cromar ProGRP system, which is an advanced liquid applied glass reinforced polyester flat roof system, specifically engineered for flat roof applications in the UK.

The ProGRP is said to be a fully integrated seamless system where all the components are designed to work together and can be used on virtually all types of flat roofs up to and including vertical surfaces, for example the cheeks of a dormer or the inside face of a mansard or parapet roof.

For builders and roofers keen to install this type of flat roofing technology, GB Plastics says its training day will deliver a practical insight into the system, and why and how it should be fitted.

GB Plastics’ general manager, Matt Wedderkopp, explained: “The Cromar ProGRP is the most advanced system of its type. As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting roofers, building trade professionals, keen DIY-ers and all our customers who are looking to improve their flat roofing skills, we are hosting a training day at our Shrewsbury branch on 21st September.

“At the next training day, Cromar will once again deliver full training on the new system and its area trainer Scott Williams, a roofer himself, will run the session.”

GB Plastics’ Simon Tate took part in one of the training days earlier this year. He said: “Scott’s training involved a step-by-step guide to the product to ensure anyone fitting the ProGRP understands the importance of each step in the installation to ensure it is fitted correctly so that the product will work correctly. I would highly recommend the training for local roofers and builders, so they can take full advantage of this market leading technology and are able to install it for their customers.”

The training day costs £100 + VAT per person, and once completed will enable tradespeople to offer customers a 25-year guarantee on their Cromar ProGRP roof installation.
