Benbow Steels rebranded as Nautilus Steel

After falling into administration 4 February, Benbow Steels, the former specialist supplier of colour-coated steel products, has been rebranded Nautilus Steel following its acquisition.

Benbow Steels was bought by Nautilus Designs, a family-run group of companies specialising in office furniture, hardware and shelving.

“I’m excited to steer this once exceptional company back to its former glory,” said Nautilus Steel’s new CEO Dr Tinkle Jain. “Offering our customers the best service, the best choice and the most trusted delivery has been in the Nautilus group’s DNA for decades.”

He added: “As a group, Nautilus has always grown through acquisitions. Many of the companies within Nautilus operate in different industries, but they all share excellence in logistics and customer care.

“Turning around underperforming companies, making them successful and keeping them within our portfolio has become second nature to us. Since acquiring Benbow Steels, we’ve stabilised the company, and now, through investment and innovation, we grow.”

That growth is evidenced by an expanding sales team led by newly-appointed commercial director Hardeep Singh, who said, “I’m delighted to be working with an incredibly talented Nautilus team and look forward to playing a pivotal role in the growth and commercial success of the business.”

Supported by two new internal sales associates, Aaliyah Hanif and Oliwia Kudera, Nautilus Steel has restored the fast turnarounds and next-day deliveries the company was once renowned for, a statement added.

Nautilus Steel’s operations director Steve Dunford added: “It’s common for our customers to need support outside traditional office hours, and because our new ERP is cloud-based, we can comfortably manage their needs anytime of day, from anywhere in the world, no matter how niche.”

The company further strengthened its ability to satisfy niche customer requests with the acquisition of a specialist guillotine that can cut steel to smaller than usual lengths and widths, it added.

“I’m delighted to share news that Simon Bembow, the original visionary behind Benbow Steel, will serve as a consultant during the early transitional phase. His integrity, warmth and talent is inspiring, and I know his contribution will be invaluable,” added Dr Jain.
