The Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) has announced it will be raising money for Variety, the Children’s Charity and The Educational Frontier Trust (TEFT) in 2025.
Variety works to improve the lives of children and young people throughout the UK who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged. Variety was last chosen as BMF’s charity partner in 2018, when the funds raised by the BMF and the Vado Rally helped to buy a new Sunshine Coach.
TEFT provides funding for the educational needs of marginalised and vulnerable children in Kenya, including the Kisima School, a residential school for 160 children. The charity is close to BMF CEO John Newcomb’s heart, who has personally supported TEFT for 11 years and earlier this year was appointed to the charity’s Board of Trustees.
The announcement of next year’s partners follows a fantastic year of fundraising for the Lighthouse Charity, which works to reduce construction workforce suicides and improve industry welfare and wellbeing. To date, the BMF has raised £22,250 for the Lighthouse Charity through collections, raffles and auctions at major events including their recent Annual Members Conference and Awards Dinner that also raised £2,750 for the Maddie Rose Campaign, which promotes the huge number of ‘hidden careers’ in the construction industry.
John Newcomb said: “Our thanks to all those whose generosity has helped us to raise significant sums for this year’s charitable causes.
“Looking forward, both of our charity partners for 2025 fund and deliver life-changing programmes that give children and young people a better future and enable them to reach their full potential. Fundraising with our members will help them to continue their invaluable work.”
