Don’t miss the chance to attend the seminar held by Andrew Moore, head of operations – Building Control of the Building Safety Regulator.
The seminar ‘BSR as Building control body for High Rise Buildings’ will be taking place at 12:30pm on 19 October at the RCI Show’s new-to-2023 Façade Hub.
The BSR was established as part of the Building Safety Act 2022 to regulate high-rise buildings deemed “higher-risk” in response to the Grenfell tragedy.
The deadline for registering such buildings in the country with the BSR was 1 October.
Andrew has over 20 years’ experience with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) where he has worked on the frontline to improve health and safety standards in agriculture, public services, manufacturing, waste and recycling and construction.
He has initiated several campaigns to promote health and safety and has led many high-profile prosecutions following health and safety failures. Most recently, Andrew was the industry competence lead within the HSE Building Safety Regulator team.
The seminar will give you the chance at the end to take part in a Q&A with Andrew.
The five key learning points from this session will be:
- Design must be approved before moving into build phase
- More justification of building regs compliance may be required
- BSR will not carry out pre-app work. Building control will not be a service provider
- Introduction of management arrangements for building regs etc
- Competence requirements are key
The RCI Show will be taking place at Stadium MK in Milton Keynes on 18 and 19 October.
